Winter Short Home Stay 2017
The Short Homestay in Shuto was really fun!
Emory was the immigration officer. The students said their names and birthdays, and they answered other questions. After immigrating to Shuto we walked to our cabins and ate lunch. We ate soup and quiche! After eating, we went out to play. It was cold but we were prepared and wore our jackets. Many teachers and students played tag and used the zipline. We were really tired after playing tag!
During the day, we made many crafts such as star sticks, yarn letters, and crowns. Many students learned useful phrases like “May I go to the bathroom?” and “Thank you”. It was great to see the students using so much English! For dinner we had really tasty beef and vegetables. There was pumpkin, onions, cabbage, and other cooked fruits and vegetables.
Before going to sleep, everyone took a shower and we watched a movie called Brother Bear. It was my first time seeing it and I think it was new for many students as well. It was a very sweet movie! We finished our journaling and went to sleep. Luckily, my cabin was very warm!
The next day we ate tuna melts cooked by Violet! We went through more English vocabulary then we packed up and cleaned our cabins. We cleaned the cabins really fast because everyone helped out! While some of us went out to play, others did grocery. Then we switched groups. In the end, all of the students did grocery and bought things to bring home. Some students bought fun toys and others bought food like chips or snacks.
We went through immigration one last time and answered more questions. Then we said goodbye! It went by so quickly, but as the saying goes, “time flies (when you’re having fun)!”.
