場所の気
部活終了で最近入ってくれた高校生が言いました。
「ここで勉強するとなんでこんなに集中できるんですかね？」
「なんでかねえー」そう返したあと、私は付け加えました。
「この部屋はね、何十年もいろんな人が勉強して巣立った
ところだから、その人たちの気合がこもってるんかもしれんね」
これは仮説ですが、場所には「場所の気」とでもいうべきものが
あると思います。教室には長年先輩たちが勉強に打ち込んできた
気が満ちていると思います。
私の教え方は原則放任主義ですが、この場所の気が乱れると
感じた時はダメ出しします。時には「もう、家に帰りなさい」と言って、
保護者を呼んで帰ってもらうことがあります。それは何よりその
場所の気を乱したくないし、それに対するリスペクトを生徒には
持って欲しいからです。

A high school student said, ” I really concentrate on my study
when I study at PEC. I don’t know why.”
He has just retired from his basket ball team and decided to join
PEC for preparation for college.
I answered, ” I don’t know, either, but I guess this is where many
students have tried hard to gain knowledge for decades., so this place
may be filled with good “qi” , or aura in English.
This is one of my hypotheses. I believe every place has its own
“qi”. It is sometimes good or bad, but here in PEC thousands of
people have been studying hard and left good “qi” during the 40
years of its history.
In my teaching I prefer relaxing situations, so basically I never
force students to do something too much. However, if somebody
does something which will disturb the “qi” of our places, I will just
stop him or her. I sometimes call parents and ask to bring them home.
I really want to keep good “qi” and also want students to respect
it.
