うちの奥さんがやってるシュタイナー教育にライアーと言う
楽器があります。
ギリシャの竪琴に由来する楽器なのですが、その特徴はなんと
音が小さいことです。演奏会では聴衆は耳を澄まして静かに
聞かねばなりません。ドイツではこの楽器を音楽療法で使い、
かなりの成果をあげているそうです。
これは我々現代人が日常、電気的に増幅した音を聞くのと対極の
世界です。
でも考えたら、我々日本人も風の音を聞き、虫の音を愛でてきました。
風鈴は夏の風物詩です。これらは生の、いわば本物の音です。
さて、本物の音を聞くことの究極が、人と対峙してその人の
声を聞くことです。
人の声には、興奮や熱意があったり、落胆やためらいがあったり、
変幻自在です。時には長い沈黙があります。相手の声を感じ、
それに向き合い、自分の言葉を返すことは人の健全な成長の根幹に関わります。
PECがどんなコストがかかっても、生の外国人の先生にこだわっている
理由の一つはここにあります。

The Steiner Education my wife has pursued uses a unique musical
instrument called Lyre. I say it’s unique because this instrument is
produced to make small sounds and requires listeners to focus on just hearing.
It is used for medical purposes and helps get more and more people healthy.
This is opposite to the sounds which we hear daily through elctrically
amplified media.
However, I think we Japanese have had the same stance as to hearing.
Our ancestors has sensed the sound of winds and loved small insects singing
at night. We have many kinds of wind chimes( furin in Japanese) to enjoy summer winds.
These are, I dare to say, the real sounds.
Among the real sounds which surround us, the most important is of course
human voices.
Human voices are colorful. We sometimes talk enthusiastically and with excitement.
We sometimes talk with hesitation and disappointment. We sometimes put a long
silence between conversations.
Kids who are growing learn the most from these real human voices.
It costs much , but this is the reason PEC insists on having native teachers.
