大島能楽堂
福山の大島能楽堂に行ってきました。
ここは福山藩、阿部家のお抱え能楽師の伝統を
現在も守り続けている、地方では稀有の能楽堂です。
お能の素晴らしさは、舞い、謡い、笛、鼓、太鼓といった
芸術がすべて楽しめることです。しかもすべて生！
偏見かもしれませんが、電気的に再生した音と
生の音とでは体にしみ込む度合いが違うような
気がします。
お能を鑑賞していると、突然猛烈な眠気に襲われたり、
逆に意識が覚醒したりします。疲れてぐったりしていたのが
講演の後元気が湧いてきたり、不思議なことがいっぱい
起こります。
我々も生の英語にこだわっていますが、生の人間でしか
生み出せない宝が凝縮されているのがお能だと思います。

Last weekend, I went to see Noh at Oshima Noh Theater in Fukuyama.
This theater started as an official Noh Theater in the Edo period and
has been preserved by a family called Oshima. There are many Noh
ｔheaterｓ all over Japan but this type is very rare.
I love Noh because this is the oldest drama tradition consisting of
physical and musical performances (Tuzumi , a handy drum, Taiko,
a Japanese drum and Fue, a Japanese flute ).
I am moved mainly because everything is done by real
human beings who have trained a lot of years. When we attend
almost any concert, we hear electrically processed sounds. But
a Noh performance is different, so the moment I hear the sound
of Tuzumi, I can enter a totally different world.
Noh is strange. During the performance I sometimes feel very drowsy
(not because of lack of sleep) and sometimes feel 200 % awake.
I begin exhausted by daily matters, but finish full of energy.
In my hypothesis, Noh directly affects our mind and we
can experience a different stage of consciousness. This
kind of stuff never happens in any other art.
