たえず成長する
ペックには０歳から９０歳近くまで、いろいろな年齢の方が
来られます。
私のクラスの８５歳のある生徒さんは、２年前に英語を始められました。
最初はアルファベットからで、なかなか苦戦していたのですが、
今は課題にしている英作文を1日２−３セットサクサク進んでいます。
「先生、私わかってるんじゃろうかね？」
が口癖なので、その度に
「始めた頃を思い出してください。」 と言います。
勉強のパフォーマンスが落ちるのは、たいてい次の２つの不安が原因です。
１）自分は成長していないのではという不安、ネガティブな思い込み。
２）人と比べること。人の方ができるんじゃないかという不安。
誰にもある不安ですが、これはただの心の不安にすぎません。
いろいろな方を見ていて実感していますが、前向きな気持ちと
正しい方法で努力すれば人は必ず成長します。
もう一度言います。すべての人はたえず成長する。
ペックのクレド（企業理念）の一つは、
「成長に関わる」 です。
これを常に心がけて仕事をしたいと思います。

The ages of PEC students range from 0 to 90.
I teach a lady who is 85 years old. She joined PEC two years ago.
She had trouble remembering alphabets at the beginning, but she
has tried hard. Now she is doing well with our writing material – two
sets each class – and enjoys studying.
But she always asks me, ” Am I advancing?”.
Whenever she asks, I answer, “Lady, please remember what you were
doing when you came to PEC first.”
Actually she has improved a lot these two years, at the age of 85!
I think it’s a wonderful thing.
I know the performance of our study can get worse because of two fears:
1) the negative mindset that he/she isn’t improving.
2) the fear that other people are doing better than he/she.
This is very common, but I say it’s only a reaction of our mind
when we get negative.
I am sure everybody will improve 100% if he/she has a positive
attitude toward studying and keeps trying in the right way.
One of our credos is ” Help customers grow up”.
I always want to do my job keeping this in mind.
